I live and detect (mostly) in the south part of the Salt Lake Valley in Utah, so finding anything nautical would be a surprise.
Actually, it's a screen door handle found in the middle of a soccer field about 5 inches down. Weird. The orca pendant is base metal. Also shown is Matchbox #13, the "Dodge Wreck Truck, made from 1965-70. I know zilch about die cast cars so did a little web research. A few of the 1965 models were made with green cabs, known as reverse color. A pristine specimen of a reverse color, with box, sold for almost $8000 at auction. The one I found is pretty rough, and almost certain it is the yellow cab variety. It still has its wheels, but the roof light and tow hook are gone. There is both yellow and green paint on the cab, so I assume they either painted it all green then added the yellow over the cab, or vice-versa for the reverse color. The yellow cabs are worth $5-10 in fair condition, which this ain't.
Added bonus: As I was walking from the car to start hunting this park, a young lady about 16 or 17 came running from across the park towards me. When she got about twenty feet from me she said something which I couldn't hear (I'm hard of hearing). I figured she was going to ask what I was doing. When I asked her to repeat herself she said "can I give you a hug?" I was so dumbfounded all I could do was shrug my shoulders. So she ran up, gave me a hug, then ran back across the park to shoot hoops. I love this hobby!
