Scott's first gold ring.

Scott and I went out to the Gulf today to a small beach near my home, where we first ran into each other over a year ago. Scott was down from N.Y. stayed in Clearwater for a week with no gold to show for his efforts. We had no luck at the Gulf beach so we headed over to a river not far away. Scott has just recently been certified for Scuba Diving, so he was glad to see other divers in the water at the river spring. He hit the water with a small Vibra Prob with a 4" coil and headed down into the spring. A short time later I saw him come out of the water with his hand in the air, I could see it was a ring, and could tell by the smile on his face it had to be a nice one. I still remember my first ring, good thing I wasn't diving I may have drowned from the excitement. Here are a few pics. from his travels today. When I dropped Scott off at his inlaws ,his wife Sandy meet us at the door and Scott was so proud to show her his first gold ring 10K ---10.7 grams. and like all good wives she smiled and said "look it fits". Congrats Scott.

Scott...I am an old duffer. Started diving in 1967. Looking at you and the gear...you may not realize when we first started diving that we used a single regulator and that's it. Usually the guys at the fire station would fill your tank as there were no dive shops. It was mail order. Dump the weights and allow the flotation of the wet suit to get you to the top. Then came the horse collar, the octopus, the gauges, and then the BCs. Now you guys use computers and Nitrox. Man...what an evolution. Frankly, it was a lot easier to get into the water way back then. I am almost done diving as the weight of 'time' on the body is getting close to the weight the body can now carry to the shoreline.
Nice pictures. Probably better visibility than we get around here.

Glad to see someone using the Vibra-Probe,I have ask everyone about them. we have a river we dive and people tube down it all day long.Seems yours works fine.(vis is always 15-20 ft)

Thanks for all the nice comments. I knew Joe would bring me good luck! My Vibra probe is great, Im very happy with it. It's a lot easier to work under the water with than my Fisher 1280X. Thanks Joe for taking the time to spend the day with me. See you again next year. Im headed north/home to find out how cold the water is in Silver Lake where I live and to see if I can find anything else. Scott
