I hope that your well and that your finding time to detect in all that heat that you guys are having in the USA. Les in the UK

PS
The deleon is not a toy detector, after taking your advice i got the Hawkeye (your Deleon) and i found two gold coins with it.:beers:

As not only did my post give the impression that i was saying that the Deleon was a toy detector, it also gave the impression that i was having a personal attack on you and your detector.

I also feel that i should not have re-posted someones personal opinion on a TID detectorist losing 40% of there finds to non TID detectors under your post as i believe that comment has also upset people.

Once again i will say that I'm sorry if my post has offended you or upset any of the guys on here in any way .

No worries Les. I didn't take any offense at all. I've always been very partial to Tesoros despite owning other more expensive models now and in the past. And really...almost all the Tesoro models look like toys compared to some others, and Tesoro isn't alone in that. A certain very popular yellow one comes to mind. Looks can be deceiving though... :beers:

I have always used Tesoro detectors as there discrimination has been so good on the sites that i search, I did try a couple of different makes but i kept coming back to my Lobo super traq as it got the job done.
I only have two detectors now a Lobo ST and a Fisher Gold Bug Pro, ( i also had to let the deleon go but that's another story) I'm now in the position that I'm finding that i need a detector with a little more depth. I have been waiting for Tesoro to bring one out but as yet they have not made one.:nopity:
That yellow metal detector that your on about is selling like hot cakes over here. For what it sells at and what its finding, it just can't be beat.
You take care scott, Les in the UK

But on the sites that i search, i found that i had to turn the discrimination up and the sensitivity down so as to not dig as much iron. When i did that i found that the Tejon gave me the same depth as my Lobo Super Traq so i sold the Tejon and got the Cibola. ( i could loan the Cibola out and let the wife use it, i found that the Cibola also gave me the same depth as my Lobo st give or take 1/4 an inch)
The Tejon has had the gain turned up to get the extra depth, when you do that you make the detector unstable as it it running on the edge of it's limits.
I hope that this helps Les in the UK.

In the discrimination mode on the Lobo st i set the discrimination at 2-1/2 and set the sensitivity at 10 and i have found on this setting i get a clicking sound on coke and small iron nails.
The way that i look at it is a badly set ground balance will give you less depth than a correctly set fixed ground balanced detector will and as the fields that i search can have 2000 years of scrap iron on them and they can change every ten feet, if i were to use a manual ground balanced detector i would be forever checking that its correct ground balanced.
