Scorpion GOLD Stinger question ;

I am thinking of getting a detector next year for Gold. Is the Stinger a real good starter or a great Gold machine. I read the review on it already but would like to hear from some of you that may have used it and how it may compare to others around the price range. I love my Garrett`s but i know after reading this forum for sometime now that there are people out there that have several brand name detectors they use for different applications. Your experienced input would be appreciated. Thanks from Colorado.

I had a Scorpion (as well as many other machines) & found that it's eclipsed by quite a few machines when it comes down to performance per dollar spent. If it were $150 cheaper & Garrett did something about the TERRIBLE battery replacement scheme (you have to tear apart the machine to replace the 3 (expensive) 9v batts) I would heartily recommend it for all 'round detecting. As it is, you'd be paying for ad hype. I personally like (with a few reservations) Garrett machines & have an Infinium being shipped over; I'll be using it to prospect this spring/summer. Like I said, I've used one before & don't gain anything by bashing the machine. Do a search on this & other forums with "stinger" & "scorpion" as keywords & you'll find more comments along the same lines from much more "respectable" members of the online MD'ing community. Good luck..Willy.

Hey Bob,
The Scorpion is a great machine for the price. I have
3 gold machines and like to use the Scorpion in trashy areas. You can switch between 'all metal' and
'discrimination' and back, whenever conditions require it. In other words, it goes from 'all metal'
manual mode to 'discrimination' automatic mode.
To change the batteries does require that you slide
the shell off of the innards, but it's no big deal.
With the regular coil, it will detect a gold nugget
the size of a .22 short slug, and a nugget the size
of a BB, with the smaller coil.
I presume you live in Colorado? where? Where do you
hunt now?
I'm SE of Denver and spend a lot of time in the mountains.
Good ;uck

in CO. up in Longmont. I want to try the elec. prospecting. What other ones do you own and what do you think of them. You can email me if it is no trouble. How well have you done out here in the mountains. I think the investment may be worth while because i believe there is still plenty of gold to be found even up my way. It`s also a great way to get away. Happy diggin
