Scored some gold....................

Got out to hit low tide at Santa Monica on Thursday. 5:00am -11:00am. This place is right next to the pier and you can always count on at least two or three other guys detecting when you get there. I was surprised to find no one there. Hit a ring right off the bat. Thought it was costume jewelry when I shined my light on it. It went into my pouch. About 20 minutes later my Explorer started falsing like crazy. Thought I had a problem with the coil so I switched to my platypus coil with the same results. I normally take my PI machine with me and this time I only had the Explorer :rage:.

Started for the car to head back home and remembered that I had taken apart my detector the night before. I had already checked all my setting and the coil connection on the coil. I removed the upper shaft and re-inserted back into the control box. Thank god that worked. My buddy later told me I might have kinked the coil the wrong way. If it happens again I'll have to send it in to have it checked.

To make a long story short I also got a 14K gold wedding band. Later back at my truck I emptied my pouch to check my goodies. To my surprise the ring I found in the morning has 14k stamped on it. Turned out to be a very good day for me. Even got a 1954 wheat penny.

I hit Zuma beach on Friday and had a terrible day as far as finds go. Should have gone back to Santa Monica :sadwalk:

...it is one beautiful ring! The stones are Tourmaline. I believe that they are Victorian Tourmaline. I know your wife must LOVE it. If she doesn't and if you consider selling it or scrapping it, please let me know. I know it's silly to think about buying a ring when I'm a detectorist who can find my own, but that ring speaks to me.

Congratulations! I dream of finding such a unique ring!

HH!

Well done with the rings!! It's not often you get 2 a day. HH regards Nugget.

Like we have all said sometimes the surf Gods send you off in another direction so you can find the gold. So if you had not started back to your truck you may have gone in a different direction and missed the 2nd ring. Congrats. on the 2 rings , both are nice. Thanks for sharing. HH

Hi Stacey,

Thanks for the information on the ring. I didn't know if they were stones or not. I like finding those unusual rings.

It's been awhile since I've found a ring that my wife wanted. When she saw the ring she told me it was about time I found a good one :detecting:

Thanks again,

HH Randy

It's been awhile since I've found two gold rings in one day. I don't want to sound greedy but I'm overdue for a trifecta

and I soon found out why. Lots of sand, and no targets, except a small patch of dimes. I went on down to Venice, and dug some really DEEP targets. Found over 100 coins, of course 48 of them were zinc pennies. I got a GOLD ring - 14k.... big deal... it weighs ONE GRAM. Oh well, at least it's worth $16.91 at Sat prices. Total was $6.48 and a sunburned neck, as I was out for five hours total.
