Scored a penny trifecta at an abandoned farm

A buddy was at my house looking online to get some detecting gear and I helped him find a good online deal, after that we took a drive thru the country just looking around at potential places to detect in the near future and I saw this old abandoned farm I have wanted to detect for 2 yrs....I have called the owner 15-20 times, and he never answers. Well guess what? He was mowing the yard, so I pulled into the drive to talk to him. I asked permission and he was reluctant at first, seems like it is harder to get permission for abandoned places than it is is places where people live. He even said no two times, but I just ignored the "NO's" and kept chatting with him, after about 10 minutes he finally gave in and said "I guess it will be alright" so I told him I will give him 20-30 min to finish mowing, because he was about done and return to detect.

It started off slow.....Got a few wheats, the rosie, button, the buckle....then the crusty indian. Was about to leave, actually swinging to the car and I got a 4" deep quarter signal on the etrac. Nothing was deep here so I thought just ....MAYBE... a silver quarter, but I was shocked to see the 1844 LC to give me a "penny trifecta" for the evening!!!!

beautiful LC goes!:clapping:

that looks like a dream site, maybe it was hit before? I would expect more coins just looking at that picture.

Looks can be decieving! This was actually a good haul for a farm house

What a great hunt! You and old farm houses seem to go well together (along with a trusty E-Trac!).

Way to stick with it Terry! Thanks for the pictures and congratulations on your tri-fecta!

man thats hard to do. you are truly a pro with the etrac!

Wow that LC looks awesome. Congrats on all the finds. I've been keeping my eye on an 1890 vacant farmhouse myself. Talked to the wife at their residence but she said no, but I always look twice driving by to see if he's out mowing the farmhouse.
