ANYONE KNOW HOW TO KEEP SCOOP MAGNETS FREE OF FUZZY IRON DEPOSITS THAT COLLECT ON MAGNETS , WITHIN MINUTES. ? I HEARD THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN SPRAY ON THE MAGNET , BUT NOT SURE WHAT .

Isnt the point of the magnet to capture all the iron/steel? Am I missing something?
I just physically remove any iron that is on my magnets.

Hello.
Have a look at those Black Sand Magnets that those Boys use on Dredging/Mining Sites. The ones with the MOVING PARTS.Maybe use that Principle using some PVC and such..Magnet Piston moves up and away.enclosed in a cylinder shedding the IRON
Ken.

Hard drive magnet is a neodymium magnet, which is a neodymium, iron, boron alloy with a metallic coating (chrome, nickel or other sometimes epoxy). After a while the metallic metal coating wears off and they start to rust.

I have been using ceramic magnets for over 15 years in salt and fresh water and they have never rusted.
One source is Radio Shack Catalog #: 6401877 $4 each in store only
another is Harbor Freight Item #97504 2 for $2 - best buy
and another True item Item # 472263 2 for $3

I used the harbor frights round magnet. I put a bolt through. I applied th GE silicone in the void. It still collects but is easy to remove.

I wired a small rare earth magnet in my scoop. It's small and powerfull and was only a buck on E-Bay.
