Scoop handle/Xcal mount

I got my RTG scoop the other day and didnt realize they make them with a handle down low. Started searching around and found the BACK SAVER at (Sorry Edit ) Seems to be just the ticket, light weight nylon and sturdy for $10. Also im going to use a camel back to chest mount my Xcal box on. Any problems with a chest mount as apposed to hip?

Ive tested mine its cheaper and guess i dont know the difference because it works great.

Joe over at Reilys welded one on for me while I waited for like $15 with a plastic grip, those guys are great.

Had i known that before i got mine i would have done that..... i didnt so here i am lol. Plus its a bit of a trip from Florida..... sure would have been nice.

Joe's a Great Guy... RTG... Awesome !!!!!!

He's made me a cpl of SS Lips for my beach Brute Scoop and has done some welding for some of my Buddies..

My buddy used the Back Saver handle for a cpl of years.. and it does do the job...."Basic" ... No Frill's Pathmark special handle....If you will... Just a FYI.. if you use the back Saver... Buy yourself some SS Bolts..

otherwise have some fresh hacksaw blades handy..

Then I got in touch with the Inventor of the Pro Handle and had a few sent out to myself and my Buddy.. and.. Honestly.. "Nothing" No other handle compares to it....

We then turned the Inventor onto Kellyco.. and now Kellyco carries them...

Ofcourse.. we have the "Blue" ones....

Thanks "Sal"

Good to see you MT, Miss your post.......

I got one for you, testing the Aluminum Diablo scoop this past week..love this handle, you can flip it up high, or keep her low, swing her to the front or flip her back......or be different swing it to the sides...........

wazz happenin OBN... Yeah.. I've been Lurking for awhile...

Now you Know I really like that style "Scoop" I did when I first saw it.. Now, That handle is a bit different.

How's she handle? LOL.. looks like a some kinda slip handle.... are you able to have control of her while raising her up with a full load of sand?

Cool handle.... What did RTG charge ya for the SS lips? Like most i have to go thru a lot of scoops or set ups to get it all right for me. Ive noticed OBN you have a couple of those scoops lol.

Whats your view on chest vs hip mount? I know the cables could be to my back vs the front as i vision it.

I'm a scoop nut? I came across a great deal on a couple excaliburs, came with a couple RTG scoops..to heavy for me but they are excellent build scoops. The one that has the SS tip is a Bill Babbs, got it before he moved west...still one of my favorite, But now I have a new Luv..........

You showed us why you attach a string to the scoop lol. That thing looks as big as my RTG 7" but i think it weighs 4.5 lbs.... yours is much lighter. So you bought the Xcals just for the scoops did ya??

Hey Dewcon,
I just finished hip mounting my Excal last week. Tried it once on my day off. Worked ok , but not the perfect setup. Had the wires all protected. but, still a pain when I would hook the wires while swinging. I like your camelback idea. I have one at the house. Either mount it on the front of the strap ( chest ) , or maybe on the side of the bag ( back ). I left CWB last week after six hours , when I had intended to stay ALL day , because I was getting dehydrated and that burnt me out quick. The camel back might solve both problems. Could mount it verticle , with the pod wires going down. As long as we take time and make sure the wires can't be pulled the wrong way , it should work ! Man, I can't even finish one project , before I'm onto a new one. LOL. ( still need to finish my floating sifter ) !

Ive got pluggers hip mount assy and his chest mount assy, the chest mount assy is my favorite, works great and fits well, i have no problems with wires even wearing my camel pack..
hope this helps

Joe any idea how much longer for the diablo to be offered up for sale?

Neil,.... it may be awhile yet, there are 3 or 4 people out there testing them right now..........once the builder feels he has what the hunters are looking for then it's all Gooo

Anyone looking for a good scoop I would Highly recommend the reiley's scoops, some of the best are made by them
