Schoolhouse table

I didn't really get what the function was of this table, but it's got a 5th & 6th leg. Pretty neat

I have never seen one with the extra legs before. How old do you think it might be? Kelley (Texas) :)
 
This schoolhouse is probably early 19's. I image the table probably isn't that old, but no newer than the 30's but really have not a single inkling.
 
My guess is, that it was a extendable table that you could put leaves in, and you needed those extra legs to support the middle sections.....nge
