School kids asked me if "I did this" because I needed the money!!!

After school was out I went to the closest school to try out my"demo" F 70.I attracked 6 young girls. After they watched me dig a few pennies they asked me If "I did this because I needed the money".I was shocked.I said no that this was my hobby. They offered to give me their money.I laughed and politely said no.Long story short, they buried the same clad quarter 4 different times and told me"this is where kids usually lose their money".I dug it up,handed it back and went back to detecting.I found a handful of pennies,a clad dime and a clad quarter.I also found 2 wheaties. It was just great to be outside beeping.

That's funny. I have been asked that question a few times, too, and I answered the same as you did. A $1000.00 detector, (F 75) good headphones, digging equipment and the cost of gas, they probably wouldn't understand??? HH jim tn

is this: "Some people like to golf, this is what I like to do". It usually garners a chuckle or two.

That is truly wonderful, even better that they buried some loot for your cause!

That is funny. You should have asked them how much money they had.

My wife still asking me that question! ha ha, my first gold ring was found by a river, i found it while metal detecting, but saw it with my eyes ha ha!

For me, because I am a teenager, I MD because I do need the money. Economy is making my weekly allowance go down,so to make up for it, I MD. Good plan, huh?

Kickback,

I've been asked the very same question. Then a couple of months ago while searching a local park, two little girls about 8 years old came up to me and one of them said, "My Momma says you're broke and looking for money so you can get something to eat. So here's 35 cents."

I'm 62 years old. I smiled, reached into my goodie bag and came up with a sterling silver "childs ring" that I had located about an hour before, and said "Trade ya." ---- Oh did she have a happy smile on her face as she went running back to her mother!

I certainly hope you said "yes!" I guarantee you, a big Carboy full of octagon 50 dollar gold pieces would most definitely help my family economy. :bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:
