School going out of business

MrGee

New member
A small town about 20 miles from me is closing their elementay school for good. I thought it might be good idea to take a run up there. Yesterday was theri last day of school so this morning I took a run up there, wanting to get in before the bulldozers arrive. I got onto the playground and took about three steps and dug out 2 quarters from the same hole. Figured it was gonna be a good day. I got under the monkey bars and without moving from one spot, using the pinpointer within arms reach, I dug out 47 pennys. Ended my two hours there with 97 pennys, 7 quarters, one lonely little dime and an Eisenhower dollar. (first dollar coin I've found). There were 3 wheat cents in the bunch.

I read the posts about some of you guys going out and finding 2 or 3 hundred coins in an afternoon, but this was a personal best for me in number of coins found. Actually, after only a couple of hours my arm was getting tired and it was getting to be lunch time (ok, ok! I had to pee. Everybody happy now?) I didn'teven touch the lawn areas so I may go back next week and tackle that. tomorrow I'm taking my neice (she's 11 and LOVES to go with me on MD trips) to another elementary school that is also going out of business forever. sure hope we can do as well there as I did today.

You done good bud. You need to see if you can get in there when the work day is over and tect where the bulldozers have been and in the dirt they have piled up. They turn over a lot of long buried goodies.

Actually, what I hear is that they are not going to do anything with the building right away. they plan to use it for storage or some such thing. so no danger of bulldozers any time soon.

You should have asked to use their bathrooms there...I doubt they shut the water of just yet! LOL! :) Great find and story! GOOD LUCK!!!!! Keep us posted on your finds!
