scale question

Well-known member
I'm considering buying a precious metals test kit and it has a digital scale included that weighs in ounces, grams, carats and grains. Do I really need a scale that weighs in pennyweights?

I never have used a penny weight. In fact I would get by just fine with OZ and grams myself. A scale with 100g capacity and 0.001g accuracy sounds perfect to me unless you expext to find 4-5 ounces of gold. I would just go for it.

IMO honest opinion...you are seriously over worrying with this question. Just sayin...

Scales are too cheap these day, yet very dependable.

This scale is part of a package deal and the price is $42.00 and includes everything I think I need except for the 30X loupe. I've had one of those a long time and would rather have a 10X triplex lens. I'm going to go ahead and order it because I don't expect to find no 3-4 ozs of gold no time soon. I wouldn't turn it down, but just don't expect it. The kit has test solution for 10K, 14K, 18K, 22K, silver solution, platinum solution, the scale, loupe and a stone and some small files and two test bars. It will do for a newbie to testing precious metals.
