PBS Wisconsin is airing "The Detectorists". Sweet show thus far and fairly realistic. Anybody see it and recognize the other detector?

We get PBS here and a lot of their shows are generically shared over all PBS channels.
Any way of checking your channel for air dates and times. Probably could be seen down
here in S. Carolina.

I watched the first season by streaming it over the Internet. I thought it was funny, a good story line and had a pretty positive spin on our great hobby in the UK. I heard that one of the main characters is an avid Detectorist. I would definatlly recommend watching it with the mindset that it is a comedy sitcom.

It's a great show and I am excited to hear its being aired in the states. I'll have to start looking for it in my area.

The shows creator Mackenzie Crook (from PIrates of the Caribbean) is a detectorist himself, which is probably why there is so much truth in the show.

Just found an article from yesterday with this line: "A select number of PBS stations plan to run "The Detectorists" later this year. Acorn will also release series on DVD next month. No matter how you unearth it, this "The Detectorists" is a find."

Actually, Crook stated in an interview that he didn't detect before beginning to write the series. His immersion into the culture for the show was pretty extensive imo. He nailed us but good. Only detector show worth watching. I love that Brit humor.

OP, the other powerhouse detector that puts the CTX to shame only appears in the final episode and I didn't catch the exact model. You can find it however, by the Power Rangers logos on it and it is the only detector that I know of that can actually go into 'morph mode'. :detecting:

(the XP Deus is the detector that Crook uses until the final episode)
if you don't want to wait, you can find all 6 episodes in various places on the net. also, I think Season 2 starts next month, or maybe nov. Last year they streamed them online as they aired or with a week's delay.

My mistake, I thought I had read where he was a detectorist before hand.

Last year there were a lot of places on the net to watch the shows, but the show's owners did pretty thorough job of getting almost all of them deleted or restricted to only be available to people in England. I was just doing some more research and the show is now available in DVD from Amazon in the US format. Until a few days ago it was only available in the European format. I'm both excited and bummed. Excited because I WILL get it, bummed because I will have to wait for either my birthday or Christmas to get it. Wifey gets mad when I buy stuff for myself :starwars:
