Got out on Saturday with Mark. I think he is getting tired of me yelling out silver, indian, or wheatie, when we are out on a hunt.
One of the wheats I dig has two pieces of iron piercing it, so I guess that is about you really need to prove how well the explorer can separate iron from a coin signal. It was about 7-8" deep. In this particular park I dug two silver, 17 wheats, and two indian heads and only one of the wheats was a signal that I think a new Explorer would dig.
I think between driving around, etc., we got in a good 4 hours worth of digging.
Totals for the day:
1943 P Silver War Nickel
2 Mercury Dimes (1937, 1943 FSB )
Sterling Silver Indianapolis Manual Pin
3 Indian Heads (1901, 1907, 1909)
22 Wheats
Girl Scout Pin
Marble
All of my sites seem to be cherry picked from past detectorists for the silver, so I have to go in and try to get their scraps and hope that some of the iffy signals turn into silver.
