Well, I managed to get out later on in the afternoon to a park that I've been to in the past with my "other" machine. This was the first time back there with a different machine and I wanted to see how the AT Pro would pan out. Well I had forgotten how trashy this park was and it was pretty frustrating. I dug sooooo many bottle caps that I was certain were coin signals. I stuck it out for about 2 1/2 hours and only had a '27 wheatie and some clad for my efforts. It was pretty dark out and I was ready to call it quits. I got back to my vehicle but decided to hunt around my vehicle for a few more minutes. In the past I found a boat load of wheaties and and Indian in this spot so I wanted to see if I could find anything that I may have missed. I just had got done digging up a stinkin Lincoln and I had enough. I walked over towards the curb and spotted something shiney. It looked like a large older style pulltab, but it sure was shiney under the light post near by. I picked it up and saw that it was a ring. I saw that it had some kind of markings inside. I waved it in front of the machine and it gave that high pitched silver sound. Air tests at an 81 vdi. This is my 2nd piece of jewelry this year that was an eyeball find. Who needs a detector? LOL!
I got home only to find it was not silver. The markings inside the ring say MMA 1976. I looked up the markings and found that it was a ring from the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. They made these rings to promote the 1976 King Tut exhibit. Its gold plated over base metal. Still a cool find and one of my nicest junker rings. I checked it out on ebay and saw that these vintage rings are very collectible. One of them sold last year for $102.50! It may not be gold or silver, but its a sweet ring just the same and it fits my middle finger perfectly
Total take for the day besides the ringwas 2 quarters, 4 dimes, 2 nickels and 5 stinkin' Lincolns, as well as the wheatie, a glass button which was an eyeball find obviously and the small whatsit. Can't wait to get out later this afternoon. Now for some much needed sleep.... HH
