Saturday's meager finds

Hi all! Saturday was raining cats and dogs, but the long range forcast is snow and ice, so I figured I'd take one last trip out in this unusual winter we are having. Took the excalibur, since I knew it (we)would be getting soaked.
Went to an old mill by a small river and checked the banks and edges and came up with about a dozen fishing sinkers, half a dozen modern pennies and the following: A bullet (circa 1860?) with 4 rings at the base. It also has a hollow point. I have searched the net for clues to it's origin, but haven't found anything on it yet. I believe it to be a British infantry bullet from an early carbine. You can see the rifling grooves in the rings.
Also an old cartridge - centerfire, crimped end with DMC II on the base - except the M looks like an upsidedown V with a line through the middle. Anyone have any ideas?
And an old dog tag. I thought that was pretty neat.
Well, it is blowing and snowing now. I guess it had to catch up to us sooner or later.
Take care and HH
MM

That is an interesting bullet. I have a book on Cival War bullets and I'll look it up and will let you know if I can ID it.

I'll do some checking on the bullet. What is the date on the dog tag?

There is no date on the tag, which is interesting. It says "Rabies Vacinated St. Catharines Dr. Buckley & Combe 3322"
Thanks for looking.
MM

Forcast says "No Detecting for three weeks" at least.
Oh well, I can't complain. We have had the warmest January in recorded history this year.
I need to come to Arizona for some detecting!
Those are nice railroad nails you keep finding. Most stuff like that is rusted away before long here.
Take care!
MM

with no date how do they know when the dog was vaccinated? I found two dog licenses in one yard two days apart. They were both 1962 from Conneticut. 800 miles away from home! My best 3 are 1915, 1904, and 1903

Yeah, the lack of date is a mystery to me.
That dog from CT must've been on an Incredible Journey!
God bless, MM

it was two tags! Different numbers. Must have been two dogs that moved here with a family?
