Saturdays hunt (:-(

I and a friend went out to her grandmothers farm today to metal detect. It was my friends first time.
I let her use my Ace 250 and I took my MXT. The farm is OLD. We went out into the back forty where their old house
used to be. They build a new one in 1970 and tore down the old one. The old house must have been built in the
1920's or later. Nothing was left but the front steps and and back steps and sidewalk. I thought SURE we would
find some good stuff but ended up digging lots of Iron and other junk. She kept the Ace in relic mode. I also used relic
mode and started out with the 950 coil. Live and learn. There was so much junk I had to switch to my 5.3 coil. Now
that was MUCH better. Picked up a 1980 dime at 3 to 4 in and a 1943 nickel at almost 6in. But that was it for 5
hours of MDing. Still, it was a nice day and she had a lot of fun MDing for the first time.

I've had the same experience at more than one farm house. Lots of junk, you did better than my last farm house hunt. As long as you had a good time. Rob

At least you weren't skunked. I remember the day and exactly where we were hunting when I got skunked. It wasn't a good feeling at all. Congrats on your finds and and having fun is what counts!!

It was a GREAT experience. The cows were getting a bit too
curious to suite me, but except for their cow
pies, and there were many, we all got along just find! :)-)

If we get some more decent weather, I plan to contact some
other people in the area that my friends grandmother said would
introduce on our behalf. It rained most of today, but perhaps in
a few weeks.

Regards,
Robert R
