Saturdays Chesapeake Bay Hunt

3 hours Saturday, weather was nice, water was 4o/42 and very low, never above the waist. a few buff, one wheat, one silver wash, and a small silver spoon, I think, needs some more cleaning for details

The good is my feet and hands were warm for 3 hours, used clammers gloves for the hands, regular sox, 3mm neoprene sox, and wader stocking feet which are neoprene, thinking maybe 3 mm.... Then my size 11 7mm boots
taking notes on air n water temps and what is need to keep warm so I can use it as a reference when hunting early next spring....in the water

Tried my drytop with waders to warm for yesterday, temps were in the high 60's, crazy for this time of year but I'll take it....

Merry Christmas to all.....And may the New Year Bring Great Treasures.. Joe Preast/OBN.

Nice hunt Joe. I'm really interested in the spoon, it just
looks like a fascinating old relic. I hope it cleans up well
for you.
Congrats!

Ken

Looks like the hallmarks on the spoon are fairly clear. Nice recoveries of old stuff. It was a beautiful day on Saturday! Glad you got some water time in!!
Cheers,
tvr

Water was perfect here where it was protected from the wind OBN, except that the tide was wrong for much of a hunt.

I'd still like to get in a couple more hunts before next year.

Merry Christmas Pal,:)

Nice stuff mr.joe really like that indian head nickle. I went out and checked some old abandoned home sites in ellicott city sunday once my new detector comes in ill let you know how it goes... merry christmas and god bless. Heres to prayers for warm weather soon!

Nice finds. I need some trapper's gloves when the water is cold down in the south. At least, until I can afford a wetsuit. My waders and under armor keep me warm, but my arms and hands get cold as can be in the water. Last year, I rigged up something that looked crazy to most people. I took the top of a rain jacket and some carbuerator gloves and duct taped them together and I still got wet, but it allowed me to hunt in January & February when nobody else could.

Thanks..........
That is the secret, extending your season and being able to hit areas that the winter winds really affect. This is really my first year of hitting the bay several times and each time is a learning experience with the different seasons..

F&T Fur Harvesters is where I've found gauntlets for a very reasonable price. Look for the full length gauntlets. Sometimes they have specials or discontinued models that are very inexpensive.
