Went for a spin saturday night with Gulf Huntress. I was late getting home from work and she was ready to go! We decided that we would cruise down seawall and scout out the Kappa prospects. Traffic was AWEFUL! MAN-O-MAN, ya'll would not have believed the bling we saw. We were very much the minority, but She got out the binoculars and was scoping it out anyway!
We finally got in the water at 9P, into a 122A -0.3L, 2 tider and SE winds at 10-15. We were hunting a clean surf area, she was running Her 800 and I was using the GQA2 PI. I was locked and loaded with flare gun, knife and the 11LBER, just in case we ran into unfriendlies. We were joined shortly thereafter by my pirate friend willia in tex and He has His GQA2 back from MrBill and she is running VERY WELL. Willia has 3 gold rings this week, w/stones (that I know of)! He got another one last night! Huntress got to meet Him finally, but He was further east of me, so I did not get to visit. We left this area around 11P, as it seemed too sanded in. I ended up with the nut in the west side of the photo. Everything from the penny line over left is at this location with the PI. 5 cents and the ladies watch. The brand name is, "ANY A LTD" and it has some ghetto rhinestones on the heart outline, but it is still running.

We got to the next location and Huntress was tired and cold, so she offered to let me drive the 800. I like that little unit better, each time I use it! Was back in the water by 1130P and headed for the mine. Found a nice patch out there about waist to chest deep and worked it hard. Found some old crusty, deep pennies! Total clad was down at this location at $.84 though. The 1st ring was a 10KP (karat plum) yellow gold ring w/a tiny diamond, which gave me a green light! The next ring was kinda black, so I was thinking, .925. Huntress loupes it on the way home and it is stamped SS 14K. I have never heard of such a thing. Based on test acid results I have formed an educated opinion. I have never seen gold looking in that poor of condition in our light salt waters. This ring holds nicely with silver test acid, so I believe the SS means Sterling Silver or .925. I did scrape the ring and applied 10 & 14K test acids and they faded, so I believe the 14K is incorrect or a mistake of some kind. There is no visible sign of previous plating, but the ring looks like it's been there awhile! Turned out to be a good hunt anyway, I'm happy! Think I'll take Her 800 out for another spin tonight! I like it! We baled at 3A.
