Saturday meager finds

Hi everyone!
Haven't posted here for a while. It was raining so hard Saturday, and the forcast for the rest of the month isn't pretty - cold and snow - so I decided to take on last kick at the can in this extremely unusual winter we are having.
I opted for my excalibur. It really was pouring buckets, so I figured it can't hurt the Excal.
Went to an old mill by a small river and checked the banks and edges and came up with about a dozen fishing sinkers, half a dozen modern pennies and the following: A bullet (circa 1860?) with 4 rings at the base. It also has a hollow point. I have searched the net for clues to it's origin, but haven't found anything on it yet. I believe it to be a British infantry bullet from an early carbine. You can see the rifling grooves in the rings.
Also an old cartridge - centerfire, crimped end with DMC II on the base - except the M looks like an upsidedown V with a line through the middle. Anyone have any ideas?
And an old dog tag. I thought that was pretty neat.
Well, it is blowing and snowing now. I guess it had to catch up to us sooner or later.

Take care and HH
MM

Hi Marcus,

The cartridge case looks like a Lee Enfield .303
Cheers from downunder in New Zealand, enjoying the sunshine:beers:
