Saturday (Hunt 50 2008)

Well I hit 50 hunts for the year today. It was a good day. My goal was hunt until I get something special or dig 100 clad coins. Lots of finds would have qualified for good but 7th target was a complete chain and a nice pendant. If only they were gold and diamonds. 925 and CZ in super nick. 18 inch chain. It will make somebody a nice gift. Then I decided why not 100 coins too? 108 coins total. A lot of nickels for a change. Had I known I needed 2 coins to make 50 dimes I would have kept looking. Had a nice boy in tow for about and hour and he kept a few coins and at least 2 dimes as well. The weather for tomorrow is unsettled but I hope I can get out now I'm very close to 3000 coins for the year. Also, about 1400 from 10,000 lifetime with my Garretts. Hopefully sometime in June.

I can't put my finds up until Kipper inspects the accuracy of my placement of each coin so c'mon Kip, get going!

I wouldn't complain if I lifted a chain like that, hey it's still silver.

Everything looks in order today (Ha,Ha). Great finds again, and only 8 pennies!! Nice days work. Kip...:)

I counted 17 pennies. I usually skip zinc cents at some point every hunt so my penny percentage is lower than most. I have still found more pennies than every other denomination this year. Last year I dug more dimes than pennies! That said, I dug a lot of penny signals today that's for sure. At least 25 percent of the dimes hit on the Cu Cent notch. When I dig a lot of zinc pennies I get a lot of old screw caps so that is why I skip them. I think when one of my MD hero's, John from E., makes remarks about not digging pennies in his posts, he is usually directing it at me. I figure some day I can go back and get all those signals I skipped.

I wasn't complaining, I hope. I really like that chain and pendant! You gonna answer my question about how much silver there is in a 1946 half crown from a post yesterday?

My fingertips are sore as hell.

A good haul of clad. Were you hunting in a shool yard ,soccer field , baseball field ,or ???:detecting:
 
All of the above. It's an elementary school but it has a few fields and a playground too. When I started hunting there I used to find 40 coins an hour. Now I'm lucky if I find 20 coins an hour. Clad is always good.
