Saturday and Sunday hunts nets 2 firsts!

Hello all, managed to get out Saturday evening for a 2 hour hunt at a park I've been to a few times in the past. I know the park is pretty old as I dug a couple of oldies out of here several years ago. I forgot how trashy the park was! Iron is literally everywhere and I must say, I dug my fair share of bottle caps. Managed a wheatie near the picnic area, well where the picnic area "used" to be. I noticed they removed all the tables. I noticed most of the trash was in this area so I ventured off further out along an rod-iron fence surrounding the small park. Managed another 3 wheaties. Just about to call it quits when I get a nickel signal. I said to myself when I was digging how I didn't find a single nickel at this park in 2 hours. Flipped over the plug and spotted, you guessed it, a nickel! Not just any nickel, my first buffalo nickel with the AT Pro! Glad to see it had a date of 1937. Unfortunately no D mintmark and it also has 4 legs lol. Decided to pack it in and call it a night.

Sunday I ventured off to my favorite park down the road from my house. Hit the same old baseball field hoping to score a few wheats or perhaps another silver. Well silver eluded me, but did manage 4 wheaties. I came across a signal bouncing from 68 - 72, had decent depth "appx 6 inches" Dug a big plug, took out the pro pointer and it was still in the hole. Dug down deeper and I spotted a green coin. Could this be? You betcha, my first Indian with the AT Pro! Wiped away the dirt and saw it had a clear date of 1898! Right after I finished digging, my detector went ballistic. Batteries were dying. I decided to call it a day at that point. All in all, a great weekend and happy to pull more keepers! HH :)

Congrats on the firsts, Eric!

I mean dont get me wrong, I've dug indians and buffalos many times, but its always exciting to find the first one with a new machine :) It helps reassure me that I'm doing the right thing and digging the right signals :detecting:

Hi Les, dont get me wrong, I do love digging in the trash where others have walked away frustrated. Being still new with the machine, I'm still in the cherry picking stage. I have pulled 1 gold ring so far with the AT Pro and you're right, I find more gold in trashy areas than I do in clean areas. I'll dig pulltabs and foil all day long, just knowing I could come up with the yellow stuff. Especially with the ridiculous price that gold is selling at right now.
