Saturated Audio and VCO

I've seen these terms bandied about in various posts but have never had a clear understanding of what they mean. All explanations and/or clarifications would be appreciated.

Hey berryman,

Saturated audio is basically a beep and dig meaning when a signal is received the it is always the same loudness to the full depth of the unit

Voltage controlled oscillator has a response that varies the further the signal from the coil the fainter the signal.
In a discriminating mode I feel a VCO Is a handy cap as you are already loosing depth in disc mode and the signals for deep targets may only be a threshold change. (EASY TO MISS) Sure the Vco gives you more info on size and depth through audio but it is redundant. You have a pinpoint that is almost always VCO and can give you the same info and the depth. I feel it is better to hear the target and have to check it out than to take the chance of missing it.

My saturated bug is 1 and 3/4" deeper than my G2 in disc mode and hits smaller gold in disc as well. My depth variation between Disc and all metal on the G2 has a much larger window.

When Vco was added to the SE they pulled power from the receive wire of the coil with a resistor and powered the VCO through what looks like a analog to digital converter. This is my explanation of why I feel the 2.0 is so much deeper it is getting the full strength signal.

I love that the euro tek has the ability to search both ways. If only they would have done it to the Bug. .

I agree, the Eurotek is a very sweet hunter. I take mine to all high EMI locations.
