Sasquash on the beach

I didn't go down for the Mem. weekend, but had an urge hit the beach last night to try the evening low tide. No targets were showing up in the wet sand, so I put my Explorer away and grabbed my MXT and swept the blanket area.
I got the Jimmy Sierra Bigfoot coil late last season and took a liking to it real quick because of the cubic feet it covers with each sweep. It's like a windshield wiper.
I picked up a full pocket full of fresh coins and a 10Kt. signet ring.
If your a dry sand hunter, this MXT and Bigfoot(Sasquash)coil is an excellent combo. It eats coins up and will find small gold.

Wow do you get much depth with the Bigfoot? I had one of those on my White's XLT. It was great for covering a lot of ground, but I could not get much depth on it. Except when I found a buried six pack of cold Bud!!

The fresh drops aren't deep. Off the top of my head, I don't remember anything deeper than 6", I'll give more reports as the season goes on.

6" sounds about right. I have one on my XLT and in the summer for those fresh drops it's a killer on the dry sand. That 18 inches of coil covers the ground and sucks up the targets like there is no tomorrow and it's as light as a feather. It's a great coil to use before those beach cleaning machines start working the sand.

Do targets double beep on the back 9 inches of the coil? Seems to me that I read or heard that somewhere? I think that the Bigfoot works on the DFX and the MXT. Is that correct?

Mine is for the DFX or MXT. I believe their available for all the White's series. I'll include a link with info and a report about them below.
I believe Tesoro has a similar coil called the "Clean Sweep", but don't hold me to it. My subliminal memory seems to recall a post from a hunter using one on his Tiger Shark or Stingray in the water and loves it.

The "FOOT" style loop is the most innovative loop design in the history of metal detecting. Over 4000 have been sold to date and orders are still coming in steadily. The theory behind the design is called "differential" loop geometry. That is to say, the front half of the loop is positive while the back half remains negative. This allows for better canceling of ground mineralization and ease of pinpointing. All round loops send down a signal in the shape of a cone. At the maximum detection depth of the loop, this only covers an area about the size of a silver dollar. The Bigfoot sends down a signal shaped like a windshield wiper blade and in the discriminate mode, covers a path equivalent to the length of the loop (eighteen inches). In the "all metal" mode the Bigfoot detects from the front half of the loop only. This characteristic makes it possible to pinpoint very accurately. White's Eagles and Spectrums have a special setting called "absolute value" which allows for detecting on the full loop in the all metal mode as well. The Bigfoot attains depths about equivalent to an 8" diameter loop. Its main advantage is that it covers up to 10 times the ground in one sweep and is ideal for searching large areas, such as beaches, ski slopes, fields and parks. The Bigfoot is showing up in competition hunts across the country, even on plowed fields in England. It is designed for use on all White's Pro model detectors such as the 4900, 5900, 6000, Quantums, Spectrums and XLTs.

 I know when I had a bigfoot my buddy told me to put it back in the truck. I just laughed at him and told him " you always told me you like chasing those deep targets" :)
