The guide everyone who ventures into the desert shouldn't be with.

Just found it on US Cavalry. You guys should also check the Camelback backpacks, they can carry up to 20 Liters of Water + items on some models and you can drink with a sort of 'hose' that sticks out from the backpack H2O reservoir to you (close to your mouth without bothering you).

Thanks for the link. I've been waiting for the Aussie version. The experience our respective military forces will have gained from the WAT in Afghanistan and Iraq should make the new SAS (Brit/Aus) edition worth a read.
Alas, these two services are quite secretive. I suppose we will have to make do with the US version. At least the US services are very open and willing to share information.

Thanks again, I think.

NP Lemons; Be sure to check also the camelback water reservoirs, they look to be an essential on the desert outings.

Doc,
Great point about sewing material all the way around a hat to cover the ears. My skin doctor said on men the most commonly missed place skin cancer developes is on the ears. fwiw.

yes, and unfortunately, the skin cancer we develop on the ears is sometimes not the basal cell variety, it is squamous cell. it is very treatable, but they must be much more aggressive in removing it. Some guys have lost part of their ears.
