Santa Came Early:crazy:

Santa just ordered 2 new NEL coils for my Explorer! The 12.5X8.5 Hunter and the 9.5X5.5 Sharpshooter. The 1 review I found on line praised the NEL Explorer coils. The Hunter coil is said to weigh a hair over 17 ounces with coil cover- That's light for a 12.5 inch coil! Nearly 2 ounces lighter than my already light ML Pro Coil, but even a bit bigger too! I think the NEL Hunter is the biggest and lightest coil currently available for the Explorer? It's going to look nice on my customized XS on Whites rod.

The weight of the Hunter is what mainly sold me on it, but really these 2 coils just look RAD! I sure hope they perform! I'm counting on great performance, but will have to wait several weeks to get them as they are coming from the Ukraine. I ordered them off the big E auction site and noticed of all the NEL coils listed, while expensive these 2 Explorer coils were lower priced. So I stuck while the iron was still hot!

If these coils work out I may later get the NEAL 12X13 Tornado and the 15X17 BIG, and am leaning more towards the BIG. In one video on line they demonstrated in front of a large group how their NEL Tornado received a better target response than the WOT 15! That may or may not be so?

Ive been seeing several posts on these coils..... testing will tell. Physics will come into play on small targets vs large coils. The Ukraine seems to have an interest in detecting. One of the best sand scoops out right now is made in the Ukraine as well. The only complication may be repair warranty unless they can get someone here in the states to be the sole seller and the go between. Much like Kelleyco and its SEF. Im cautious about sending money or information overseas.... heck im cautious with information any more period.

It's really amazing to learn just how popular detecting seems to be in the Ukraine. Watching some of their videos on line one would think they were filmed here? Looks like every other club! I'm not too worried about the warranty, because as a water hunter I've learned how easily gold finds can pay for new gear! No, I do not like wasting money but 1 good gold ring find- even a plain average men's gold band will pay for those 2 coils in scrap!

Plus, I find that I'm very picky with my gear. I just seem to find more when melding with my machines. If I do not like a detector or am at odds with it,.. Bad Karma! But really, good machines just make me more positive. My lighter weight Explorer with ML Pro Coil swings as easy as my Garrett AT Pro. With the NEL Hunter coil, I'm taking another 2 oz off the front end with a larger coil to boot! 2 oz may not sound like much, but can make a difference after hours of swinging. More than the weight loss, it just seems to balance the machine better. When I had the 23 oz FBS coil on my machine it felt very nose heavy. The 19 oz ML Pro coil is a joy to swing and I imagine the 17 oz NEL coil even more so. So I'm willing to take the associated risks and try the larger but lighter 12.5 inch coil. I have one of those big rubber bands for heavier coils, but just do not like it. I'm hoping the NEL Hunter coil will make for great swinging at the beach!

If NEL is selling garbage, then they should not be in business very long. On the other hand if their coils are real performers, they could put a serious dent in SEF coil sales. It would not surprise me at all, if someone here in the States is already trying to work a dealership deal! I bet the big SEF dealer in FLA is watching NEL closely.

I also wonder how NEL is referring to some of their coils as Tornado? Thought that belonged to ML?

With my older Explorer I'm very impressed with the ML Pro Coil. The NEL coils will have a tough act to follow. But based on the review from England, I'm expecting them to be great Explorer coils.

Looking forward to posted results.
