Sandy was giving gold and greenies

I got in under the radar, and no, It was a legal entry to a barrier island and it was fun as hell. I found the mens wedding band @ mid. tide and the dog tags w/ the 14k cross attached at 3/4 low. I have to find a way to return the dog tags w/ the gold cross to the owner. I want my fellow veteran to have it back but I don't know how to go about it, anyone who can help me with this would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. The best to you all. Bill, AKA Ratpack

WOW! That is one massive cut!

I returned a pilots ring to the family. The ring was from 1947, the year he graduated flying B-29 bombers. It took 4 years for me to track down the owner and the family. Military archives won't help. Are you positive its a real military dog tag? Looks to me there are only two lines stamped in it. VERY strange for a military tag. Anybody can now buy them and put what they want on them. I am lost as to what are the greenies your talking about!!

Very nice ring and cross. If I can help PM me. I do have some ideas and will help if at all possible. I looked at the blown up picture of the dog tag. I am 99% sure its not military, but of course can be wrong.

" ... It was a legal entry to a barrier island ...."

Huh? I'm reading on all the forums that the "beaches are closed". What kind of a law-less miscreant are you anyhow?? If you didn't find a "no", you simply didn't ask long enough, hard enough, and high enough up the ladder! Now please go back and do the right thing, by asking far and wide till you get a "no". Lest you give our hobby a "black-eye". And also, put back those gold items and goodies you found. Thankyou.

Congrats on the gold. Glad you had legal entry. Hunting there is a touchy subject for some. Prayers sent from Calif.

Not a real dog tag..... to much info missing like, last name, then first name, Svc number, blood type and religious preference. Dont waste your time trying thru the military on this one. Nice hunt.

Those are really great finds. Thank god you didn't get hit as hard as farthur north. I'm heading down to the beach next week. clean up is gaining ground. Good luck.

Nice finds .

Hope all is going to be well in the US , has the Hurricane season started or is it finishing ? hope its ending but winter is coming soon too , not good .

Nice finds. Would it have been any different if the storm never came through and you found them ? I think not. What if you had found them last week or the week before, a month ago, a year ago, ten years ago ? Whats the difference. And its no ones business how you found them or where you found them. If you broke into someones house or car and stole them then I would say your a A - - , but I dont think that was the case. So good for you.

Hope i am not being Ghoulish but i want a storm on my local beach , it needs it , too built up and trying to find rings is very hard at the moment. Doesn't have to be a bad one just enought to shift the shingle.
Sad about the loss of life in US because of the storm .

To Tom in CA. I guess by saying I went in under the radar gave u the impression that I some how skated around a police barricade or slipped in like some dirt bag somehow illegally, well I DID NOT what I did was this Tom, I went south on the garden state parkway to the exit to the town and parked my car at the beach parking lot where the beaches were open to the public and where I had a nice conversation with a beach patrol officer. The place I went to had NO NO NO checkpoint (THEY MAY HAVE HAD ONE AT ONE TIME) because the town (with the exception to the beach) had minimal damage so it was wide open. I guess me saying "under the radar" must have lead u to believe I entered the town illegally but nothing could be further from the Truth Tom, the door was open and i simply walked through. The people on this site know me well I have been posing for a few years, some I have hunted with so do me a favor, don't prejudge me or anyone else on this site before u have the facts which u clearly didn't at the time u posted this, You don't live here so u do not know the area and I also think your putting way too much faith on what u read on the Internet. I think I will keep the ring and the cross I found yesterday and the ring I found today if that's alright with u. No hard feelings Tom, Best of luck out there, I wish u well:super:

You don't owe Tom any explanation, those are the type of people I can't stand, always butting in without knowing the facts, hope you find many more goodies....

From the internet......UNK stands for University of Nebraska at Kearney, looks like it belonged to a student....HH

Nice Haul RP, Love all the treasure and glad to see your hanging in there. Keep them coming:thumbup:

rat-pack, no you didn't get it! I guess I didn't put enough smiley faces in there, etc.... The post was meant as a JOKE, to make a point. Sure, I KNEW that no one cared on the beaches you were hitting. People are also hitting beaches (and have been since the first days) further up where there was more damage even. I was only pointing out, in jest, joking because there's been other posts (on other forums, and perhaps this one too) saying "the beaches are closed" and "stay home out of respect", blah blah blah.

Sorry the jestful tone wasn't clear. I'm all for hunting in blaring storms! :)

Nice finds Rat Pack. Hope you get some more before sand moves in.

I see OBN is doing well in OC, Md. too.

For all who can make it out to do some hunting in the storm areas: good luck and be safe!
Cheers,
tvr
