Sandshark

I'm looking at the sandshark and i'm wondering what kind of depth I can expect in the wet sand on saltwater beaches. Right now I have an M6 I'm a long way from the beach here in Colorado so I want a water detector thats not too expensive since I'll only get to the coast once in a while, plus since it's a PI I could always use it for nugget hunting out here!

Right, then again since I don't know the depth of an excal that doesn't really help me much, my question was what kind of depth can I expect in the wet sand with a sandshark.
Don't get me wrong, if I still lived on the coast I would get the Xcal!

I love my Sand Shark. It will find the small gold chains and rings at 15-18 inches that lots of machines can't see. Be prepared to dig small fish hooks and that kind of stuff at those depths. The light weight makes a long hunt a breeze. I get about 20 hours out of fresh alkaline batteries. And the ability to change coils with the waterproof connectors is a big plus. If your hunting site doesn't have too much ferrous, you won't mind digging everything. I've even found some desireable ferrous, like freshly dropped high end pocket knives.

It's generally stable and quiet, but ther's a section of beach about 5 block long that has some kind of interference. It causes falsing at the ends of the swing. No adjustment will correct it. It happens to be in the area of several of the Police Department's wireless camera antennas, of which I am the administrator. So it's possible my job is actually interfering with my hobby!

I second VBDaves comment. Mine works great on Southern California beaches, even those with lots of black sand. I have found silver dimes at 8-9 inches although you have to listen pretty hard. I still have not determined which mode (normal or VCO) I like the best but I am tending toward the VCO mode.
