Sandshark

I'm looking at the sandshark and i'm wondering what kind of depth I can expect in the wet sand on saltwqter beaches.
Thanks for all the advice!

Depth in wet sand is kind of hard to determine since the sand moves and fills in. I have recovered coins that were centered where I pinpointed (once I got them out) that I did not get with the first fully pressed in scoop. Sometimes not with the second or third scoop either; and that's when I have to start thinking that maybe the target was off center on the pinpoint. I'm figuring that first scoop pulls about 10 inches on the center of the dig area and targets have been beyond that.

I don't normally take the Sandshark up to the drier sand areas as that is also where the tent stakes and bottle cap counts start to rapidly increase.

I'm using the 10.5 inch round coil.

Depends on the coil you are using and whats in the ground! My deepest clad coin so far was 10-12 inches with the stock 8 inch coil, but I am just learning this machine and I'm sure it will go deeper with practice and deeper coins in the ground. With a bigger coil it will go even deeper. (guess what I want for Christmas). HH.

I wanted a Sand Shark but discovered they're in back order due to some sort of connector issue.

I've heard the 10.5 coil is also in back order.

I've dug rings and coins at 12 to 14 inches in dry sand on a highly alkali beach using the preset which should be comparable to a salt beach. It sure drives my Tigershark nuts anyhow, just like a saltwater beach does. One thing to keep in mind is that you will get more depth if you crank the pulse width to max. Yes it does reduce battery life but I've never yet had the batteries die on me while hunting, even when I hunt 8 to 10 hour days. So... for a few cents saving on batteries why give up depth? That said, I can say I've found the depth with a standard 8" coil when the pulse is cranked full to be very close to what I got with my Infinium with it's large 14" DD coil.

There are deeper Pi machines out there but i find the Sandshark hunts as deep as I care to dig, especially in the water. And with the Tesoro warranty.....how can you lose?

I don't believe the Sand Shark is back ordered, but the Tiger Shark was.

The problem was a connector company that went out of business. They had to redo the Sand Shark case. You'll find this discussed on other forums.
