Sand to Clay

Well met up with a guy for some possible detecting in the Fredericksburg, VA. area He's kind a of in to detecting +-. Reading some stuff I guess this red clay is pretty mineralized in this area (?). So...I need some help. Will the settings on my GT be different going from the dry sands of NM to this red clay in VA??

John, the red clay around the Roanoke area didn't require any major adjustments, but the clay in the middle of summer can be difficult when digging targets.Another problem is ticks and chiggers if you dig in tall grass make sure you wear long sleeves and pants, never had problems with these in Michigan or New Mexico. Ron

Thanks Ron. Had the tremendous opportunity for a locally born guy to answer my call for a hunting buddy. He has a ton of knowledge. But, he is hot and cold on detecting...I'll have to change that. Kinda what I thought on the adjustments but, I wasn't for sure. Now the fun will start.
