Couldn't wait to try it out so I took it to the seaside heights beach last night for a few hours of night hunting. Well high tide was coming in fast so there wasn't much wet sand to detect and the surf was very rough. I did try wading for the first time and wow is it difficult! Never expected it to be such a workout!! I now know my first mod has to be a coil brace since it kept flopping up in the surf. Sadly no signals in the water to scoop out. I moved onto the fresh shell line and picked up some clad and bits of wire and did some dry sanding with a bit of clad and a TON of Bobbie pins!! They are the worst! Deepest target was about 10". I figured I'd be hittin deeper signals then that but even that coin was just a mild threshold change. Guess with practice I'll hit em deeper I hope.
Signals are nice and clear and pinpointing is very easy. Question for u PI users... Does the threshold on PI units always waver?? Like a throbbing threshold as opposed to a smooth steady hum like I'm used to? Also does anyone have tips to maximize depth on this unit? It seems like it isn't much of a depth monster like I expected it to be. All in all I'm happy with my detecting evening and with the shark. Best part is i drive a diesel Mercedes on waste veggie oil so I have no quota of $$ to achieve since fuel is free lol. Hh guys!!
