The Sand Shark is a Pulse Induction (PI) machine and really geared for salt water conditions. With virtually no discrimination PI machines arent as good for trashier fresh water beaches. Pulse Induction machines basically arent affected by salt mineralization and thereby work very well under those conditions. If you are interested in fresh water hunting you would do much better with the Tiger Shark.
