Sand Shark update, and now a dilemma.....

My Sand Shark problem has been fixed. in a round about way I ended up with a brand new in the box latest version of the Sand Shark. I have rusty to thank for this as he went out of his way and got me out of my old one without involving the Tesoro factory. Long story short I have a new one.

Now the dilemma: I had so many problems with my last machine that it made 5 trips back to fix many of the same problems over and over. Now I have this shiny brandy new one and I really don't want to take it out of it's box. I'm afraid I'll end up in the same boat. I like the Sand Shark, but if this one takes a crap I can't imagine going through this all over again.

1) Should I sell it and get some other detector?
My primary machine is the CZ21 and the sand shark was my backup. I would want another water machine.

2) Keep it, use it and hope for the best and deal with it if and when it craps out on me?

Maybe that first one was a lemon shark...........I think I would keep it boxed up and only take it out if needed. What have you got to lose!It will still be new if you need it at some point, and you do have the experience with it to know if its the same or better than the last......What say they on fm:rofl:I think I know where that will go!!!...LOL

Just curious.. what kind of problems did you have with the first one?
I have one that I bought last year and have used it many times in fresh water submerged for long periods of time and so far have not had any issues with it.

Well, you have a new one, with a new warranty. That's something. If you sell it, even as new, you are not likely to break even on your investment.
However, as you are aware, this does represent an opportunity to "jump ship" and at least come close to regaining your investment to spend on something else.

You obviously got a lemon the first go around. It happens. The odds that you have another are extremely rare. I've had mine for a year now and have had no problems (knock on wood)!
Keep it and HH!

I've had my Sand Shark about 2 years never had any problems I use it every weekend.........love it...I'd buy another one ..but as long as this shark is keeping me happy .....I'm fine :)

Not to hijack this thread but I just ordered a Plugger straight shaft for my Shark! I'm so excited.....Yay!!

The problems you encountered are not at all typical for a Sand Shark. I agree with the rest it sounds like you got a defective one. I would feel very safe to use the new one.
