Sand Shark sweep speed

therover

Well-known member
Can anyone using a Sand Shark tell me if this machine can be swept moderate to fast ? Is this a slow sweep speed PI or can you swing it a bit faster and still get the same results.

I am thinking of getting one with the 8 inch coil. My main preferences are toward sensitivity to smaller targets and target separation.

Also, how is the pin pointing on the SS ? I have had other PIs where the pin pointing was brutal...hence why I am leaning toward the 8 inch coil at first.

Thanks in advance.

I've never had an issue with swinging my shark to whatever beat I was feeling at the moment. Just keep the volume set hit and you'll hear everything you pass close to. I have the 8" coil and am happy with it. And pinpointing is centered on the coil, no problem there. I've taken to zip tying a 1" long lumina stick to the end of the shaft right above the coil when I'm working waist deep or deeper. It really shines in water that's too deep to see the coil in. Makes target recovery easier in heavy surf because I don't have to keep my foot planted on the target while I'm getting pushed around.

I have only used the 10 inch coil so far.

I don't swing real fast, but the Sand Shark does not act like it sees things deeper or hit harder when I slow down to pinpoint.

Running in VCO mode it pinpoints spot on. Not quite as accurate in normal mode.
