Sand Shark sound question

I have noticed with my Sand Shark that every now and then it makes a quick what I call a burp sound. Kind of a very quick twang. It's not repeatable and its definetly does not sound like a metal tone. It's just a quick twang and then its gone. I dont think it is anything affecting the machine I just want to make sure it's not telling me something and I am not listening. Anyone else ever hear that from their shark or does my Sandy just have gas?

Sometimes hear something like you talk about. I attribute it to interference most of the time. It isn't repeatable with coil swing. Sometimes if I catch the coil hard on the sand I'll get a momentary sound, more so hunting wet sand than in the water.

Do you wear shoes with any metal (eyelets/zipper/steel shank) on them MDing ? With many PI units you can step into your coils field when swinging causing interferance.

From other forums it seems most likely to be EMI. It was also suggested that lightning in the area may contribute which we have plenty of here in Florida. I think it is EMI from all the beach hotels wifi, cell phones computers etc. It appears to be very normal. i just didnt want to find out that the burp was a secret signal for 18K gold! Thanks for posting your thoughts.

Does anyone know if you can replace the head phones on the sand shark with lets say " Gray Ghost head phones?"

I believe they are all hardwired. Mine is one of the new ones so everything is now hardwired. The "older" models I'm not certain about.

Are the headphones comfortable? I had some on a sea hunter that looked like these and the pressure against both ears were tremendous and i don't have a large head. Just worried that they won't be comfortable after a few hours of use.

Headphones are hardwired on my Sand Shark that has interchangeable coils.

I like the Sand Shark headphones. I find them comfortable and quieter than many others I've used. They reduce outside noise a good bit and that is important when listening for a threshold change. Much better headphones than the stock ones on either my Excalibur or CZ20. The Head Hunter Pulse that I have has good headphones too, but I give a very slight edge to the Sand Shark headphones; slightly more comfortable to me and seem to have just a little bit more outside noise reduction (I say that, although I have not done a side by side to be sure. A side by side comparison may slightly modify my thoughts on noise reduction). I have not tried any of the Garret water detectors so have not experienced any of those headphones.
Cheers,

I agree with TVR, I like mine, but they are tight but not overly tight and you really need a good seal to the ear to block out sounds and hear faint threshold changes.
