Sand Shark and the 3 by 18 inch coil

Wondering if my wishes are bigger than reality..The Sand Shark is a pulse machine, and I think there is a clean sweep coil for it..In early 69, months before I moved to Ohio, one of my friends told me where Carlos and Johanna coins could be found..New Smyrna ? inlet, south to the old Coast guard station, then south of it..I made a shovel that looked like a sand scoop, and had a hardware cloth catcher that I rammed into the sand..Every one who hunts beaches knows there is a sweet spot where the sand is missing, is full of shells and everything else(wave trough)... It moves back and forth as the day progresses. I didn't have a detector that would work in water then.( we did have a French one about as big as a flying saucer that nearly killed the guy using it) So, what I used to do ,was shovel the stuff out of the trough into the screen, and hope that I would scoop up a coin. I think the rate of return was ,one virtually worthless coin per two tons of "stuff"..If the Sand Shark and coil would work in the area, I honestly think I might come down and pitch a tent for a week or so..Back then, there were people living on that outer bank that would break into your car, if it were left unattended.I.Really had the bug forty years ago, and, it is returning,,The technology that you all take for granted just amazes me..,cordially Nad

Nad,

Was hoping you were going to post some hunting experiences with the Sand Shark and the 3 x 18 pulse coil.

I've got a Sand Shark and only about one set of batteries use on it with the 10.5 round printed spiral coil. As well as looking to get the 3 x 18 widescan for use on the Cibola and Tejon, I've been thinking about the 3 x 18 pulse for the Sand Shark at the beach.

Just slowly drove the coil cover off the CZ20 today. Way too much time and way too much force needed. I found out why it didn't act real well last time out ... about 3 table spoons of blackish gray sand trapped in the cover. A check in the front yard once I got the coil cover off kind of proved that the sand was real ugly. I think I am going sans cover on that one detector.

The Tesoro covers I've had so far are much easier to get off to clean.

If I get the 3 x 18 for the Sand Shark I'll post how it goes.

I use my Stingray II a lot and I was having trouble with signals. I sent it in for service and they sent me back a small baggie full on sand. stupid me.

I now do not use a scuff cover because the sand where I go would take a lifetime to erode away the coil. This depends on your sand & rocky area.

Thanks to the wonderful Tesoro warrenty and service I was not charged for my neglect.
