Sand Shark and the 10.5 " coil

scrooge

New member
Just purchased a new Sand Shark and would like to hear from any users. Anyone using the 10.5" coil? Which mode do you use" VCO " etc. I am familiar with PI machines used a Whites PI for 20 plus years and just sold my Garrett Infimium...

Looking forward to hearing how you think it stacks up to the other PI's you've used.

I use the 10.5 inch coil. Have been using VCO mode. I think it pinpoints better in VCO. That said, I have spent so little time in normal mode that I am thinking that I need to hunt in normal mode for several hours to just give it a chance. I like the way the Sand Shark balances with the detector mounted behind the arm rest on the upper part of the rod. One down side to the 10.5 is that if you catch a wave with it, the coil flips up. I need to make a bracket to hold it in place. Would think the 8 inch would not be as inclined to flip up since it has less surface area to catch.

I know at least one Sand Shark user on these forums prefers the 8 inch coil. Maybe he'll chime in.
