Sand Shark and Clean Sweep Coil.

Does anyone have experience using the CSC on the Sand Shark? I came across a deal I couldn't pass up while looking for a 10 1/2" coil. I'm wondering what to expect vs. the stock 8" coil as far as depth and gold sensitivity goes. Thanks & HH.

I picked up a new cleansweep last fall and did not get to try it until first of April. I tried it briefly, it isn't right, and then the 10.5 inch went back on the Sand Shark. I now have two coils for the Sand Shark that scream when set down on the wet salt sand and when water moves over them; one was used and the other is this new cleansweep. I reseated the connector a couple of times and no go. I need to call the factory and see what they suggest. The 10.5 round behaves wonderfully and gets me good targets. I am wondering if an adjustment is right on the edge with respect to the coil tolerances or if I really have two bad coils. It is now water season. I frequently don't know when I can get out until the day before so I hate to send it all in and lose hunting time with what is working well.

I see Ken from Kelona, BC has recently posted on the Tesoro factory forum about using the clean sweep with the Sand Shark. I think most of his water hunting is fresh water.

Until my Sand Shark is working with the clean sweep, I too am interested in more reports on this set up.

The other coil that acts up is a 10.5 inch round, same part number as the good one. I got it used and almost as soon as I got out into the water with it the first time I wasn't paying enough attention to the waves and got knocked over. Figured I stepped on the first 10.5 inch and affected the coil, but now I'm not so sure it wasn't that way when I got it.

Depth is a little hard to tell in the really wet sand where I mostly use the Sand Shark ... but I have had to dig more than one scoop at times to get a target I was real sure I was right over with the first scoop. Scoop gets down about 9 inches, so ... I'd guess conservatively it is good for a good 10 to 12 inches on coins and maybe a little more.

So far I have only pulled junk rings with the Sand Shark. Guess I haven't put the coil over a good one yet. I'm on the third set of batteries in it. So I probably only have between 30 and 40 hunting hours with it so far.

Tvr,
Thanks for the report. I definitely want one of the bigger coils.
Ive had my Shark since January and have managed 2 gold rings, a nice looking plated watch, and some cool shipwreck stuff. With my stock coil I have found coins in firm, damp sand at 8-10 and the signal was still very clear. In the water water my good finds (coins, gold ring # 2) were 1-3 scoops with the big stealth. Both gold rings hit hard, like bottle caps, and the watch sounded like a nail.... gotta dig them all.

According to UPS my CSC coil should arrive tomorrow. My wife got it for me as a birthday gift (a couple months away) so it will be a while till I test it on the beach, but I will hook it up and do some air testing to be sure it works and I'll make a coil brace for it so its ready to use.
HH.
