Sand scoops

Any suggestions on a decent sand scoop to use for water hunting?..about to start checking the local lakes and beaches...but there r so many to choose from...are the more expensive ones more sturdy and reliable than the cheaper ones??

I tried a mid range one and didn't like it. This year I got a T-Rex and it's been working great!

Am thinking it depends on where in the water or beach you want to use it.
If you end up getting a cheaper scoop I am thinking you will be disappointed
and end up getting a good heavy duty scoop anyhow. Pretty tough digging
in some places that I know of and you can end up with a damaged or destroyed scoop.
I know they cost more but they are well worth it, The one I use is probably 20 years old
and can't even remember where I bought it. I do know though that it has never
let me down. It has a long handle and I can stand on the back of it when digging when
I have to. Well worth whatever I paid for it. Had the bright idea of going the cheap
route years ago and that scoop ended up in the trash can on the first beach I hit.
My first one was a hand scoop and let me tell you that you soon get tired of getting down
to retrieve every target. Get a stainless scoop or you will have to put up with corrosion.
All kinds of scoops out there. I would call someone that sells scoops and tell them where
you want to hunt and I am sure they will give you some good advice. The scoop you end
up getting may cost more than you want to spend but will be worth it when it lasts a long time.
That's my 2 cents worth. Best of luck to you ! Gene

I went with a hollow fibreglass pole from a post-hole digger and, having some spray foam left from another project, filled it up. This keeps water out and 'maybe' makes it stronger. Also added a magnet to the end of the handle for iron trash.
