Sand scoop

What size sand scoop do you guys like ? I’m looking at the stealth 720i and 920i 7” and 9 “ scoop. Is there really much difference? Just go with a 9? What’s your thought?

720 works well for me in the water and out on the wet or dry beach. I got the hybrid back (some smaller holes) and the smaller holes lets me tilt the scoop back and keep most of the small targets from falling through. I recommend that option. I got the carbon fiber handle. Makes it lighter, but that can be added later if money is tight. Not an inexpensive scoop, but after using it for about 2 1/2 years now, I don't think I'd go back to the other scoops that are now all just back ups.

I prefer the larger scoops. Pin pointing a target in the water is difficult at best. The larger scoop gives one more room for error. I use the large scoop everywhere on the beach.

There's not very much weight difference iirc, so I'd go with the 920. That's what I use.

I hunt older beach's and targets can be very deep so I went with the 720i, with the smaller holes. I like the fact it is taller and takes a bigger bite for deep targets. If I were hunting shallow targets the 920 would be the better.

I do have two 720i's now and one has a fiber glass handle and the other Carbon fiber. At this point I see no advantage to carbon fiber since weight is not a issue in the water. If I hunted wetsand or dry for sure the carbon fiber would be the better of the two. The only argument I have on the carbon fiber is I had to put a regular hand grip on it for hunting. If not for the grip it is a pain looking for the (front marker to get the scoop in the correct position to dig) with the grip I can feel which way the handle is facing, faster and very efficient. Water here vis here is less then 12 to 15 inch's...

Great reply......a scoop is a scoop is a scoop.

The 920 is HEAVY when its filled with wet sand, even under water. I have one and its a fabulous scoop, but my back really hates it after digging a couple hundred targets in a day. If you have any back or arm problems, get the 720.

I gave up my 9" scoop due to a bad back
The 7" is a bit easier

I have the 9''. I went 9 just because pinpointing can be off so there is less room for error. I spoke to a few people that had both and they recommended the 9'' so I went with it. I was coming from the 6'' RTG that was too small for the amount of time I was hunting. I pretty much stay on the wetsand.
