Sand scoop

Member
can anyone suggest a good reasonably priced sand scoop for wading in river and where to order from... Thank you

I don't think any of them are reasonably priced. Get one that will last. A hunting buddy got one that looked good, but didn't last a single hunt.

[size=large]like Grumpysrb said, none are reasonably priced and ya gotta really read the ad. Kellyco sells some but ya gotta read them descriptions. not all can be used with your foot. very important factor.
of the ones i found that looked good, all were priced more than i could justifiably afford in my budget.

I bought what I believe is an RTG(?)dry sand scoop. I have abused the bejeebies out of it and it is still in good shape. The finish is worn and the handle won't collapse but it still works great. But, you'll need a wet scoop. Still think they are too expensive.

Some rivers are very rocky, I saw a guy on youtube that used on in a river and pretty much killed it in one hunt, good in sand, not in golf ball size rocks!

You most likely will encounter rocks in a riverbed, so I would say you'll need to pony up for a stainless steel scoop. There are a few good ones, and they are not cheap. But you will only buy one. The inexpensive plastic, or aluminum scoops will break on the first hunt. The beefier aluminum scoops will hold up pretty well, may bend some in a tight riverbed, and cost as much as stainless.

I too have hunted rivers and lakes with a rocky bedrock. I will suggest one made of strong material such as stainless steel. and has a pointy tip to get under the rocks. Often times you have to move your scoop handle laterally to get the scoop under the rock or gravel material started. I use a large scoop with an extral long handle to add leverage,

Below is a link to the Findmall sponsors and a pic of my stainless steel scoop.

HINT.....if you purchase a scoop, sometimes it is cheaper to order just the scoop and fit it with a wooded handle bought locally then paying the extra shipping costs.

Thank you for the advice.. looks like i need to get a SS scoop. B- day coming up.

IS THE T-REX REAL HEAVY OUT OF THE WATER.

Website says 2.8lbs. without handle. Thats not to bad. My 6" aluminum has to weigh more. It does get heavy after a couple hours on my shoulder.
