G'day All, I haven't posted in a while been flat out working & detecting.Any way enough rambling on ,this is my problem I currently have a Sea Hunter Mk II i use in the water I have a long handled stainless scoop i use that i got made by my cousin who works in stainless. But when i use the scoop i have trouble retrieving it out of the sand, too much suction created & i have to use both hands to try to lift it out of the deep sand.:ranting:

the scoop handle is 54" long & bucket is 6.5" diam & 10.5" long

I got a reply back from Va Beach Ron he said a handle for leverage
But do i still need to drill more holes? will this prevent the suction of the scoop in the sand when lifting out?
Any feedback would be great! want to get this problem nailed before our summer starts

I think you need a bunch more holes. This will also allow it to drain faster so you can find your target.

I have found that if I kind of wiggle the handle in a small circular motion as I first start to pull it back it is much easier. Even in fine sand. I have seen many pictures of bent handles but I still use a wood handle and have not broken it yet. I have used it for two seasons in both salt and fresh water.

In gravel or stone bottoms it also helps to wiggle it as you push it in.

Good luck.

A handle will help but you need more holes for sand drain.
Here is mine.

Cheers
Luca
