Sand Scoop Help?

GotSilver?

New member
Hello All,

Does anyone have a recomendation on a light, but durable, long-handle (40"ish) scoop? Looking for a two-piece version prob. Also, let me know if you have one you're looking to part with. Thanks for the help...

Stavr scoop I use the evroexcravator 2. under 4 lbs with handle.

My homemade scoop. I've got a bomb-proof SS one with posthole digger handles but keep going back to this one I made from an aluminum pot. Doesn't do rocky soil very well but is light and fits in the bag I carry my MD in on my bicycle.

Check out borderlineengineering.com. it's easy to find him on eBay. "Stainless steel beach scoop" it comes in a 40" handle and a two piece breakdown as well. It's all stainless so it will last.

Impressive...Most impressive. Looks fairly easy to make as well.

I started with a homemade scoop. For the and money you put into it, you are better off to buy a good scoop right off the bat. It makes water detecting a lot easier if you have a good scoop. It's kind of like land detecting without a good pinpointer. I know, I tried to save money and learned the hard way.

Scoop quality and technique is critical. You will get SO FRUSTRATED with a not great scoop by over digging and not recovering targets. I'd rather not talk about how I know, just take my word for it that I REALLY know.

Yes, I agree. I currently have a 5" RTG...nice and light but I think it's not wide enough...keep missing things! Frustrating? Oh yes.... Thank you.
