took the musky out for a walk , using the 800 coil and it was find until it got into the wet grass then it started to false ya i could still find targets but the falsing was bothering me so when i came in i took the coil cover off . and it was full of wet sand , i washed it out and dried it and put it back on and runs smooth again so it do matter now i taped the seam to keep the dirt out

I beach hunt with the Sovereign and Excal II. I use bed liner spray on my coils. It works well. Never need to worry about that problem again. Some guys seal their covers on. Some don't mind rinsing it out. It is up to you. If you are under any kind of warranty I would not do anything but use the cover.

were do you get spray on bed liner? that sounds like a good idea

Got mine at Pep Boys. I sand the bottom to help with sticking. Make sure you mask the wire or you will get spray on it. Then I put masking or painters tape just on the top of the coil. I spray the bottom and sides. Three coats about a half hour between each one. Lasts pretty long. I might touch up once a season.
