Sand Bars

Anyone hunt sand bars off the beach in west florida? would it be a good spot to hit? I was just walking the beach today and saw the sandbar and i thought hey i could get on my kayak anchor at the sand bar and hunt...

I've hunted them in the Mid-Alantic region of the US, at low tide and they can disappear very fast with the incoming tide. On my trips to the Gulfsides of Florida the hunters I've hunted with never jumped upon the sandbars to hunt but all played the ridge before. This is the pattern that Ron Lord {junklord} uses...and he is in the Southwest Florida area and does very well. Good luck..Joe

I have tried it a couple times, and always get trash. No heavy stuff!!

I can only comment on my experience. Most of the times the sand bars have very few to no targets. BUT i still check them depending on how they are shaped, if the trough is curved towards the sand bar and a few other things i look for. But the bottom line is if I'm near a sand bar and its not taking away from time in a productive area i will wander on and off them. There has been a few times that i have found plenty on them. So what the heck go try it........
