I was working the surf on Miami's South beach. Back about 30 years ago (damn I'am getting old) the beach had a nice slopping grade. Well as time goes by and city government gets involved ( and they call it progress) the pier was taken down and the beach was dreged and all of the sand pumed on to the beach from offshore. Wel all this progress produced a very high beach, great for the ones laying on the beach, bad for the swimmers. There is now a four to five foot drop offs in places making it very difficult to get up on the beach. I got caught by a lrge wave that pulled me off of the beach and into the dropoff. I wound up dumping my equipment and pulling myself up on the beach after fighting the undertow for several minutes. The only way I got my detector back was because I had a float tied to it just for that reason, the float made it a bitch to carry but saved my a grand.

Just make sure you know were your hunting and what the dangers are when your out there, and be prepared for them as much as possible. And try remember, that one ring that may be out of reach is not worth your life.

Safe hunting to all.
