Hello Fellow MDers
Here we go again about which coils work on which detectors ! I know this has been answered many times before but I'm still confused with all the answers.
I'm looking to replace my old worn down 1265x search coil, I hear that the 1266x use the same coils as 1265x. Is it true that the 1270 also shares the same coil with the 1265x and 1266x ?
Does not the frequency of the detectors determine which coils they use? I understand that the 1265x had two version of coil plugs one with male 5 pin plastic and the one I have the 5 pin female metal plug. However this to me don't change the fact that they use the same coil even though the wiring for the plug is different. But, to see the frequency of the 1266x at 4.8 kHz and for the 1270 at 8.2 kHz ( not sure about 1265x as I lost the manual) seems to be quite the freq. difference between the 2 for enter swapping the coils. Someone please set me straight here, as I see there are some coils still listed for the 1270 with the 7ft or 3 ft cord, 5" and 8" coil as well as a coil listed as 10.5 inch with this part number 2024280010 , also a 10.5" coil listed for the 1236X. Any of these work on 1265X or 1266X?
Thank again sorry for my confusion!

: I think I saw his mug shot on a wanted poster somewhere
. He's actually a good guy from what I seen of him to bad he lives on the other side of the Big Line as it were. Unfortunately I would not be able to buy any coils from him because he's on the other side of the line as it were, but thanks for showing me this. So you say you have 1266x coils working on the 1270 huh? I have access to several New coils if still available for the F70 if they will work on the 1265X, please read my post above. Sorry, I'm confused with the frequency differences between the 1270 at 8.2 KHZ compared to the 1266X and 1265X 4.8 KHZ that's a big frequency spread. All Teknetics Greek series run at the same frequency of 7 KHZ but the T2 runs at a different frequency and these coils are not interchangeable between each other. So why would a detector coil designed for 8.2 KHZ work on a detector that's designed for 4.8 KHZ ? To me I may be wrong, maybe they do work, but I'm still hung up at the various frequency differences in many detector and their coils and yet the coils are not interchangeable with each other. If your right on this I will agree with you both, but let's keep this about the 1270 coils and not the 1200 series as these may work but are not available now unless you can get some used ones.. OK thanks for answering and keep it coming Id like to hear someone address the frequency differences on these coils and tell us that they are compatible with each other. Okie Dokie enjoy Ur comments keep er coming! Make my little brain understand!!
