Same location, different day...

Decided to hunt a local area that I know has been hunted before. I'm certain of this because I hunted it about a month ago with my first detector ( Fisher 1280x ) I had prior to upgrading to the MXT. Maybe it's because this machine is so much more capable, maybe I've grown more skilled or maybe I was just sloppy before but this little area gave up a lot more secrets than I was expecting. I pulled out $ 2.24 in clad ( nothing old but a 65' quarter...again! ) and a bunch of other cool finds. Best finds of the day ( in the picture ) 2 silver earrings, a 1972 Indian coin (from India), an old ornamental (folded up) copper flower, 3 junk earrings, a large bling key chain and a red glass marble. One of the junk earrings is an Oakland A's logo with 20 glass stones and another is a post with a large CZ (I think). The key chain is brass and st steel. The center medallion rotates and has "San Francisco" the Golden Gate bridge and a cable car engraved on both sides. My personal favorite of the day is the marble. I've been told that the only way to make red glass is to use gold. If that's the case then, technically, I found gold also ! I just think the marble's neat. The coin has some beautiful writing and designs, in relief, on it. Sorry my camera's not good enough to show the detail. It rings differently than modern clad when I drop it onto the table but because of the date I'm assuming it's an alloy and not silver. Beautiful coin none the less. My 16 yr old son has grown up playing baseball and is also an A's fan so he's claiming eminent domain on the earring.( Just to display, not to wear!) That's about all. Hope you enjoyed it.

Sounds like you are happy with the MXT srf2112. Good finds. A new detector renews your confidence and 'realerts' you. I guess it is because you really concentrate on learning the new messages...

The Panther

You're exactly right Panther. When I first started detecting about 3 mo's ago, I was totally ignorant of the realities of it. I assumed once a spot was hunted, by anyone, it would be pretty much cleaned-out of good stuff. After reading a lot of the advice and info on this forum I've been applying the principles that the experts talk about I've learned that my assumption couldn't be farther from the truth. I love the fact that as you progress, with skill and/or equipment, every spot you've hunted before becomes "new" again. Many spots that I've hunted, and had success at, have not even seen my MXT yet, let alone with my 6x10 DD. Of course after that they'll all be getting a taste of the MXT with the 5.3coil which I recently picked up and have only used a bit so far. Just keeps getting better.....

That sure looks good to me. Congrats on getting out and hunting again and also for all the goodies found. You've got a nice selection of items. Maybe someday we'll be able to get out and hunt. Thanks for sharing and posting! HH, Nancy
