nothing exciting but still target acquired 9K with a CZ 1.3 grams about 4" soft signal like a beaver tail tail or platypus tails as I call them and after a week of digging crap I took a seat at the hole and sent my mate a pic of the million $ ring  Outlaw disc line above min, very very slight neg GB with the 7" eccentric , so next one is a 18K with 2 ct blue sapphire or something like that :poke:

winter dirt season is coming to an end :sadwalk: might get some cooler days in but garden and water hunting for summer to hot digging in the dirt unless its a wet summer and don't think that's the case, so 9 bits of dirt gold for the winter can not complain

after a bit of a wash

amberjack,

Congratulation on the dirt gold............looks like you worked for it with the amount of trash you dug.

Hope you get a wet summer to extend your hunting season.

Thats a very nice ring that you have 'pulled' from the ground, must admit i cannot recall the last time that i found a ringpull,of course location plays a big part as i tend to detect mainly on either pasture or ploughed and rolled which is not the type of enviroment that you would find a burger bar or ice cream stall  but joking a side i can fully understand how that would annoy folks having to dig so many ringpulls to find one decent target.

I guess you can sell those as scrap and that could help towards paying for petrol :ukflag: :)

thanks guys

no old stuff to hunt here like you guys have in the UK , oldest coin I have found is a 1797 cartwheel penny silver 1824 I think and with such a small population back then they are hard to come by these days around here still find some when I go looking for them but have to travel etc.. and there sure not easy to find.

so its about doing what I love so have to come up with new styles to hunt and gold is where its at close to home and so while that may not be a great find for all that work it only takes one nice ring with a big rock on it i.e. diamond sapphire etc.. and I am having a very good day :bouncy:

I have proven to myself this winter they are out there so will keep digging and cleaning up the local parks nice bloke that I am :pulltab:

but yep would be fun to detect over there I sure would enjoy it for a change no doubt about it, but guess we all have to hunt to local conditions

@amberjack,1797 was the only year they produced the Cartwheel 1 penny date wise that is and as you can see they are a monster size coins, most of them come up in very bad shape as the chemicals that man has put on the land badly corrodes them, the 2p Cartwheel is not as common and must admit i have only ever found one of the 2p version, but they are even bigger and heavier.

yep Mega mine was super cruddy got a pic here somewhere , there it is I have big hands and this thing is a huge coin wasn't deep either think I found it in a soccer field lots of English 3d and 6d silvers in the 1800's there also, the holly grail over here would be the holey dollar and dump http://www.nma.gov.au/collections/highlights/holey_dollar

there is a couple spots I could have looked here but they moved the ground around why do they do that, never detected a field but there is one I want to try next too a 1840's school so maybe I might do UK style after the summer crop

seen those hammered coins you guys find they are very kool I like finding old coins found a few key date old silver Aussie coins from the 1920's in VF-EF condition and yep sure made me smile , one thing I have to be here is adaptable just so I can keep swinging
