Went out to the same former beach stretch that I went to the day before yesterday, where I got 7 wbacks, 2 v nickles and the indian head penny. Im not sure I will ever be able to read the date on the penny or the other nickle- buried in that grit and moisture they are green and encased in a concrete like skin. I wonder if just heating them with a torch would blow that coating off. I told think Ive seen that strategy mentioned on the forum, any input guys? Today I get 2 more wbacks, 2 mercs (42, 43D,) a musket ball, this odd broach (open lattice work back) and surprise, a 1913 barber dime. I had the sense on the 75 ltd to 85 and the disc at 21, it was fairly well behaved. This stuff is mostly down the bank at shoreline, I know its a "turn of the century beach" so it looks like the flood has scoured the beach down to some of those earlier years. I realize Ive been fortunate to find some good sites over the last several years, and even get spoiled that way. Im loving this as a way to finish out the season, we had almost 50 degrees today, and I know snow is probably a day or two away. I wonder if that broach held a big stone in the center orifice, I couldnt find one in the dirt. I have some recent neat unusual finds I will post this winter. If I win the lottery some day Id have you all up north for some big party. Thanks for looking, CO
